Museum of Science

We all had a blast during our field trip to the Museum of Science!  Not to mention, the excitement was still in the air from the Red Sox winning it all just the night before.  Some attractions which were particularly interesting included: bobsled building, the science playground, the nail bed, the Aztec calendar, the infrared display, and the 500lb lever.

Students: What was your favorite exhibit?  Can you explain the SCIENCE behind it???

  1. My favorite exhibit was the probability exhibit because it is interesting to see how dropping the balls in a specific place effects where it will land. since balls are dropped from the middle, they are most likely to land in the middle.

    1. Hey Morgan, I liked that exhibit too! It was such a great visual representation of probability. Do you remember the elevator mechanism that carried the balls back up to the top? Do you think that was a simple machine?

  4. I liked the optical illusion where the painting titled "My Wife And My Mother In Law" it was cool because it was an older lady one way and a younger one the other way it's so cool how artists can do that

  5. My favorite exhibit was the Seeing Is Deceiving exhibit. Four computer stations allow you to look more deeply into these and other illusions, and help you understand some of their underlying principles. There are also two dozen replicas of paintings and drawings by artists who use tricks to create images of impossible buildings and figures. Lines that look curved are in fact straight; shapes that seem to be different sizes are actually the same. I loved looking at things that will not look as they really are come first glance.

  7. There were a lot of fun exhibits but my favorite the ball exhibit. It was fun to see where the balls would go and to build track. I think the balls would go up because of the air pressure. I really enjoyed building the track.
