It's everyone's favorite time of year, The Readathon! To celebrate the kickoff, we are having a 'read your heart out day' on Friday, and we will be busy making multimedia book trailers with a "screening" planned for Friday afternoon.
Assignment: Recommend your favorite book to a friend.
Use your summarizing skills to include: Theme, plot, characters, and setting.
Use persuasive language to convince them!
Wonder: For the first time August Pullman (who has a face disorder)is going to school(5th grade).the characters are August,summer,jack,via, and more.but it is a hard time for everyone somehow...I recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a more challenging novel about hard begginings and good ends!

I recommend the book Eleven Birthdays to Rita. The theme of the book is about a girl, and for that girl, everyday is her birthday. She tries to save the friendship of her and her friend while trying to stop all the birthday madness. The setting is in a small town called Willow Falls. The main characters are Amanda an Leo. It is realistic fiction. I enjoyed this book and think you will enjoy it.

DeleteMMG u should read small as an elephant because it is a very good and suspencful book and it is very interesting. It is about a boy named jack who went camping in Maine with his mom and when he woke up she was gone. So now he is searching for clues and is going to try and find out where she went and why she ditched him! He doesn't want to be taken away from her, so he has to find her before anyone else does. Jack starts by looking at the places they planned to go together............

I think you will enjoy this book because it is about two twins (Alex and Conner Bailey) who accendentilally go into a fairy-tale world. The only problem is that they can't find a way out of this demesion, so they must follow the wishing spell; a spell that grants ANY wish no matter what it is. To activate the wishing spell, Alex and Conner must go a dangerous quest, and find all ten items of the wishing spell. Will Alex and Conner be able to find all of the items to the wishing spell and get home?

I think that everybody in this class should read The Westing Games by Ellin Raskin. It is about heirs of Samuel w. Westing, CEO of Westing Paper Products. In his will, he puts a cryptic message about the westing games, a competition in which the winner gets the lump sum of 2 million dollars. The heirs go to extreme measures to make sure that they win. ReplyDeleteMy favorite book is Joey Pigza swallows the key. It is my favorite book because it is a really funny book. The setting of my book is in a house or in a hospital. Joey is always out of control in a funny way. For example he was on a field trip on a farm. But then he climbed on top of a barn and yelled'' can you see me'' then jumped off and broke his leg. The whole theme of the story was that self control and not always messing around can mean a lot in the future because if you don't listen then your not going to get any where in life. So if I persuaded you then give the book a try!

I would recommend reading The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. This book is about the future and the world is split into 13 districts (district 13 was bombed) and the districts are ruled by the people in the capitol. Ever year there is something called The Hunger Games and each district has one boy and one girl picked out of a jar to fight to the death and there will be one winner that will become rich. The main character in the book is Katniss Everdeen and her sister was picked but Katniss volunteered to take her place.
ReplyDeleteI recommend the book, "Goose Chase" to Claire. Goose Chase is about a girl named Alexandra who is an orphan goose girl. Before her mother died she said she can eat her duck but never harm the twelve geese and they will help you through your life and help you through the toughest of times. Then one day, an old woman came and Alexandra gave her some of her precious bread and water. Well, the old woman was really a witch and for being selfless, the witch made her as beautiful as the dawn . When she brushes her hair, gold dust sprinkles out, and her tears turn into diamonds. But prince Edmund of her kingdom, Dorloo and King Claudio the Cruel are fighting for her hand and put her in a tower to keep her, "safe." Oh how she wishes that she could be a plain old goose girl again. So with the help of her twelve geese she tries to escape! But that's when her problems really start.
ReplyDeleteI recommend the book spirit animals to Allie because she loves animals. This story takes place in Erdas when four kids summon the four fallen. Meilin summons Jhi a panda. Rollan summons Essix a bird. Conor summons Briggan a wolf. And Abeke summons Uratha a Leopard. The Greencloaks need them to work together and strengthen their bond to get the powerful talismans. In this book they go after talisman number one -Arax the mountain yak. This book switches point of view from the four main characters. In the end there is a big battle to get the talisman. If you want to figure out if they got it read this fascinating, heratwarming , fun, suspenseful book by Brandon Mull.,.
ReplyDeleteHi I recomend that every one read the book schooled. It is about a boy named Cap that lives with his hippy grand mother Rain. He has spent his whole life on a farm and being home schooled. But little does he know his whole world is going to flip up side down. When his grand mother Rain get hurt falling from a tree as she was picking plums. So he has to stay with some family friends and has to go to a public middle school for 8 months while his grand mother Rain is in rehab.
ReplyDeleteI think that Jack Madden should read the longest walk by Steven King. It is about kids that have to walk a very long way but if they stop they will get shot. It is a distopian book and I think any one that has read the hunger games would love this book I myself am a big fan of this genera.
ReplyDeletethe book you should read is called dragonborn. if you like adventure and dragons and wizards this is a great book for you. the main character of this book is sam, sam is a wizards apprentice. sams apprentice flaxfield died so now it is up to flaxfields other apprentices to help sam finish his training for a long aadventure. this story takes place in sams house where all the spells and books are. the plot is wizards ,dragons and books with spells. the theme of dragonborn is that there are many dangers awaiting sam and his dragon...read dragonbord!!!
ReplyDeleteI think David lemmel should read the book "maze runner" it is one of the best books I've read. It starts out as a boy named Thomas and all his deep memories have been wiped. For example he can remember the movies but not a movie he has watched, the only thing he can remember about himself is his first name. Even though there is a creature outside in the maze he still wants to go into it. Becauseif the maze is solved they can find a way out. Except by making a dumb but heroic move he finds himself stuck in the maze at night as the creatures close in on him cerringes out... Can he make it till day time alive?
